OPTOUTThe three national credit bureaus offer a toll-free number for individuals to opt-out of credit offers. Call 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688) for more information. This actually works pretty well. After several weeks, I started receiving considerably fewer credit card offers in the mail, and now I hardly receive any. And it costs nothing - even the call is free. |
Direct Marketing Association (DMA)Sign-up for the Mail Preference Service from the Direct Marketing Association. This will stop junk mail from members of the DMA, which has around 5,000 members. You can pay $5 to register online, or you can mail your name and address to:Mail Preference Service Direct Marketing Association Box 643 Carmel, NY 10512 |
